What is the socioeconomic makeup of those who succeed in the sharing economy created by Uber, Airbnb, Taskrabbit, etc?
On the surface, these companies have expanded access to “gigs,” leveraging technology to build communities of trust and collaboration, creating jobs, changing lives, and all that smooth talk. During a down economy, the unemployed/underemployed can apparently turn to these startups for work.
But how much of that is PR spin, and how much of that is reality?
